S-3 Moving on Tax

The S-3 Group, a lobbying and communications firm, is launching a new tax practice ahead of next year’s debate over expiring provisions of the 2017 law, the firm shared first with Bloomberg Government.

S-3’s recent clients include H&R Block, the Business Roundtable, and the Sazerac Company, according to lobbying disclosures. S-3 recently merged with West Front Strategies. Next year will be “one of the bigger and more unique years for tax policy,” said S-3’s Martin Reiser, a former policy director for House Majority Leader Steve Scalise (R-La.), and a co-leader of the shop’s tax practice.

Shimmy Stein, a senior policy adviser to then-House Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-Va.); Malloy McDaniel, one-time policy adviser to then-Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.); and Kevin Casey, once a policy director for ex-Rep. Joe Crowley (D-N.Y.), will also co-lead the group.
